Nationals 2000

Home Up Quebec Trip Essay The Train Around University Competition The Cruise Ceremonies

June 2nd through June 8th I was away from home from my national competition. Now, for any of you who ever talk to me, I'm sure you've heard quite enough about this so I'd just read on, but for those of you who are just scratching your head wondering what I'm babbling about, I will go on. On April 14th I was in a provincial competition for prepared speech. They asked me to
write a 10 minute speech about "The Benefits of a Post Secondary Education." So a month or so before the competition I decided to enter it and see how well I could do. I prepared as much as I could, and ended up winning the gold medal. I went into the competition to beat one person, that's all I wanted, I didn't care if it was 49th place, I just wanted to know there were
good enough points that I didn't completely bomb. Well I ended up going home with a gold medal. Mind you I only had one other competitor but that's not the point :-) Anyways from April till June I prepared my next speech. It was on a topic of my choice, had to be between 5 minutes to 7 minutes. I did this one on "Benefits of Education in a Small Town." I finished 5th in this competition with 725/1000 points which I think was totally fair, because everyone had excellent speeches. I didn't really care if I won or lost, because I'm just happy I was there. 5th in Canada in Prepared Speech is also not that bad a title :-) I would love to go back next year, wish me luck!

I had tons and tons of pictures from Quebec City so I divided them into their own little groups so they're easier to view. Enjoy!

Along with the other categories in my navigation bar you should notice something that says "Quebec Trip Essay." Well going to this trip also meant I had to miss a week of school, and to make up for the work I missed two of my teachers just asked me to write an essay on what I did and stuff, that's all this is, just detailed info on what I did in Quebec, missing a few details of course.
